Hong Kong will facilitate the movement of people and goods within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to a transport strategy blueprint unveiled on Friday by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.

The HKSAR government aims to greenlight recognition of driver's licences issued by Guangdong and Macao in 2027, said the document outlining transport strategies for the next two decades.

Public transportation information of all GBA cities will be made available to residents and visitors to promote cross-boundary traveling, said the blueprint.

To smooth traffic for Hong Kong residents, Route 6, a trunk road astride Kowloon, will be completed within this year, according to the document. Hong Kong also plans to add about 600 electric buses and around 3,000 electric taxis in 2027, and run the first licensed online ride-hailing platforms in the final quarter of this year.
