On May 18, 2026, the Innovation Cooperation Center for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Data Special Zone was officially established, marking a faster push by the GBA to explore new solutions for cross-border data flows. As an important platform for the national data infrastructure pilot program, the newly established center will focus on addressing challenges related to cross-border data circulation.

The Innovation Cooperation Center for the GBA Data Special Zone will mainly undertake two key tasks: providing foundational data support services for government departments in the GBA, and offering professional cross-border data circulation services for enterprises.

Going forward, the center will focus on exploring new solutions for data circulation across six major application scenarios, namely cross-border manufacturing, cross-border healthcare, cross-border scientific research, cross-border education, cross-border e-commerce, and cross-border data processing.
